Fashion as inspiration for art, and vice versa. This autumn, Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen is showing the most exciting fashion of the moment: from a model who wears her own spotlights to jewellery as sculpture, and from the fashion show as experimental installation to clothing as a component of a film or fantasy world. Is it fashion or is it art?
H+F Fashion on the Edge has commissioned five of the best contemporary designers to make exclusive installations especially for The Art of Fashion. Viktor & Rolf, Naomi Filmer, Hussein Chalayan, Anna-Nicole Ziesche and Walter Van Beirendonck are abandoning the fashion seasons and setting to work as artists. The new works will be shown alongside existing pieces by these designers and others, including Maison Martin Margiela, Bless and Comme des Garçons.
The exhibition is made possible by H+F Fashion on the Edge. Dutch ELLE
(celebrating her 20th anniversary this year) is media partner. The exhibition is being featured in the official programme of Holland Art Cities 2009-2010
The exhibition will be on view until 10 January 2010.H+F Fashion on the Edge Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen Illustrated: Viktor & Rolf,
