A new H+F project was launched on 14 September at de Appel arts centre in Amsterdam and on 17 September at the FRAC Nord-Pas de Calais in Dunkirk.
The H+F Curatorial Grant will be awarded annually to an ex-participant of the international Curatorial Programme of de Appel. The winner will be allowed to work on the realisation of an exhibition project at the FRAC for a period of 18 months. The Tomorrow Book Studio/Jan van Eyck Academie in Maastricht also participates in the project.
Annette Schemmel (1979, DE) is the first to receive the H+F Curatorial Grant, on the basis of her exhibition proposal which focuses on 'collecting' as a phenomenon.
The jury of this first edition consisted of initiators Han Nefkens (H+F Collection), Ann Demeester (director of de Appel arts centre) and Hilde Teerlinck (director FRAC Nord-Pas de Calais).
On 14 September, de Appel highlighted the launch of the H+F Curatorial Grant with a debate on contemporary and historic patronage, featuring Han Nefkens, prof.dr. Nachoem Wijnberg of the University of Amsterdam and Ann Demeester. On 17 September, a press conference was held at the FRAC.
