Art & Fashion. Between Skin and Clothing
When art and fashion get together, it crackles between skin and clothing. Fashion reflects our modern culture in a sensual, but also a conceptual manner. Since the nineteen ninetees, designers such as Comme des Garçons and Martin Margiela explored the boundaries of clothing and their significances. After the turn of the millenium, Viktor & Rolf and Hussein Chalayan presented their fashion shows like art installations.
The Art of Fashion: Installing Allusions, an exhibition at the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in 2009 by curators José Teunissen and Judith Clark, made possible by the H + F Fashion on the Edge program from writer and art collector Han Nefkens, is now presented in a new edition in the Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg by José Teunissen and Annelie Lütgens under the title: ‘Art & Fashion. Between Skin and Clothing’.
